Bonifacio Global City Speeds towards the Future with Bayan Business
The small and medium enterprise (SME) sector has proven to be important to the Philippine economy, providing employment as well as a viable alternative to it, generating revenue for the government, and providing income to various suppliers and allied industries. Indeed, SMEs are widely recognized as important pillars for sustained economic growth and rising incomes.
The home of passionate minds might very well take another name: the metro's rising technology hub.
In the recent contract signing of Bayan Business, Bayan Telecommunications' corporate solutions arm, and the Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation (FBDC), comprised of the powerhouse partnership of Ayala Land, Inc., Evergreen Holdings, Inc. (Campos Group) and the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA), the rising development in Taguig affirmed its commitment to catering to the fast-paced technological demands of businesses in its area.
As part of the agreement, Bayan Business will be one of the select telecommunication companies who will service the Bonifacio Global City (BGC)'s E-square district, which is recognized as a Philippine Economic Zone Authority's (PEZA) information technology park. The top telco provider has already started installing fiber facilities to service call centers as well as large-scale international companies who will be based in the area.
"We're currently laying down our fiber connections to serve particularly BPOs and multinational companies, and we expect to be finished by mid-June," notes Jon Arayata, Head of Bayan Business. "The primary services are internet, international data circuits, as well as the voice network services." To ensure that corporations will receive uninterrupted, reliable, and high-speed service, Bayan will provide redundant network topologies. These guarantee that network downtime caused by a single point of failure in the connections is eliminated.
"It's interconnected to our fiber rings, meaning, this ring is actually redundant – one is connected to our Makati node, the other is with our Pasig node," explains Mr. Arayata. "If something happens to a segment, it's automatically routed to another leg. It's a fail-safe system that ensures the connection is not interrupted."
With this contract, Bonifacio Global City reinforces its vision for a highly-interconnected future. "As a PEZA zone, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) was explicit that this is an area that has to be served by multiple telecommunication providers – so it really supports the general policy that the E-square, and BGC in general, is a place where world-class telecommunications is secure," says [NAME OF FBDC REP]. "The idea is to provide world-class telecommunications access in Bonifacio Global City – and part of that, especially for international firms and BPOs, is telco redundancy. The entry of Bayan Business into the East Square is critical for providing them that choice." With Bayan's entry in the district, technology truly runs to the core of the rising Bonifacio Global City.
