The usual MTU for a static ip connection over pots is usually set at 1500. The connection should be fine with that.

Depending on your OS, you can do some tweaks to help your OS manage your internet connection better. You can also do some browser tweaks with Firefox and IE so that it will load pages faster. Just be careful though in making tweaks with your OS as some might not work and cause problems.

Speeding up your net access is two ways. One is one the side of the ISP, which is BayanDSL, which I guess is already taken cared of. The other side is the PC side, where you maintain the PC, clearing it of junk, avoiding infection, tweaking some OS connection settings, etc.

DLink is one of the known brands for routers. What do you mean madami siyang issues? Perhaps you can share it us here, para malaman din ng ibang DLink users natin.

I am using Linksys right now. One of the earlier models, WRT54G. I changed the firmware though to a Tomato Firmware since mas madaming options yung Tomato firmware compared to the stock firmware of Linksys.

Other router brands na oks din are: Belkin and Netgear. TP-Link and Encore are also nice. Gaya ng WRT54G, maraming versions yun, ranging from WRT54G ver. 1-4 all the way to ver. 8, me WRT54GL, GS, GC, etc. But they look the same and more or less have the same look sa firmware, features at chipset ang nabago. Yun lang, you cannot exchange the old router for the new one.

DI-604 is an ethernet based router. Wala itong wireless. For its firmware, you can check which router is yours since me iba ibang versions yan, here. It's features and details are here. Sa Pilipinas na lang available yan. DLink abroad has more or less stopped its release already. A little tip about changing firmwares in routers: do not change or upgrade it unless it is known to fix a problem that only a firmware upgrade can solve. Also while updating the firmware, be sure not to touch the router or the PC and that all security programs are off that way it doesn't interfere with the upgrade or flashing. By the way, I am not suggesting you do it. It depends sa problem mo with the router kung ano talaga ang dapat gawin dun. Angel

Yikes.
Kung di nag DDC pag direct modem, possible na either yung router yan or yung switch; or any device in between the modem and the PCs.
Ilang PCs ba yung connected? Anong internet activities naman yung ginagawa?
Kung naka business line ka, set the router to Static IP (pero malamang nagawa mo na ito).
Have you tried other routers? Ano yung nauna mong router?
Yup. I remember nga yung case mo. I advised na mag direct connection ka to the modem at walang DCs na nangyari. I even suggested na subukan mo palitan yung router firmware baka sa firmware yung problem.

By the way, do you use a hub or switch in between the router and the PCs? Anong switch yung gamit mo? I remember kasi most shops na nakita ko, when they use a DLink router, they also use a DLink Intelli Switch. I have also seen though yung iba ang switch at router.

Mahirap nga mag process of elimination kung daily ang operations. The most na magagawa mo yan is after shop hours, which is late into the night na.

Unfortunately, there is no Tomato Firmware for that version of a router. It only has 1 Mb of flash memory, and 8 Mb of RAM. Too small for Tomato. If there is an earlier version of Tomato for it, it will also not work since most of its features would be more or less outdated by this time. I also checked DD-WRT, and they also do not support the router model you have. Yung last na version ng Tomato firmware na available is 1.23, which is a 2.8 Mb file, and when flashed into the router will consume roughly 4-5 Mb of memory.

As of now, stock firmware lang ang available from the Linksys website. Just chose the version number before you download the firmware. The version number is located at the bottom of your router. You may check it here.

Port reblock... That is when they will connect your DSL line to another DSL port either within the same facility where you are currently connected to, or in the nearest facility that can accommodate your connection without sacrificing distance and affect the speed. This is usually subject to availability of ports either in the current facility or in the nearest facility that can accommodate your connection.

Possible na they will do a port reblock on it. Since the problem began when the phone repairs started, it is also possible that it will be resolved when it is done. Just continue to follow it up. I already made a follow up regarding it also.
