For TORRENT lovers, dnniwa485 came up with optimizing your torrent for downloads in his thread: Torrent Download Optimation.
Here it is:A Guide :d/
On this guide (or a DIY) were going to optimize your computer for torrent downloads. So lets begin:
Increase TCP/IP limitation on Windows XP SP2 or VISTA SP1/RC: (if youre using a OS that is not listed here you can pass on the second stage)
(note: for vista users we recommend you to upgrade to Service Pack 2, as the half-open limit is removed)
1. Download Half-Open FIX for Windows >>
http://www.half-open.com/2. After that OPEN the program and choose a language (you can choose anything beside of English, as long as you can understand it ^_^)
3. As you can see here.. If youre Current limit is 10 then change it to 100 by entering it in the New Limit

4. Restart youre Computer.
For Router/Router Enabled modem Users: Enable Port-Forwarding (you can skip this if you're in Direct Modem Connection/PPPoE or Bridge Connection)
note: you must enable Port-Forwarding on you're router ... (please Visit your Router Manufacturer Website or Consult the Users Manual how to do it. For Bayantel Router Enabled modems, you can freely ask the moderators and admins how to do it)
note2: please take note the port number that you did enter on the router(5-digit number)
-can't help you with this (as the guide will talk tons of routers how to do it).. you can rather PM me or other users here (like Mikos) how to do it.
Configure Firewall: (If youre using the Windows Firewall as default you can skip these)
note: we cant help you again with this.

cause its firewall software dependent.
But the thing you only to do is, you must add to your Exemption/White list the torrent client you are using.
You can rather PM us again or leave a query here.
Configure Client (utorrent .. preffered 1.8.4 stable)Time to Config your utorrent software to utilize your download speed.
- Open/Launch/Execute/Run Utorrent
- Go to Options>>Preference
- On Tree Bar (see on Left Side of the Window) you can see "Connection" Tree there, click it and it will open the configuration Window
- See below:

*uncheck uPnP
*check NAT-PMP
*uncheck randomized port
*check Add Firewall Excemption (MUST BE CHECKED FOR MOST USERS SPECIALLY WINDOWS FIREWALL ... but in my case im using different firewall software, so checking this will be useless)
*Enter your Port (please use the port that you used for youre router -- other else like Bridge PPPoE Direct modem.. or whatever it is, you can just press random port.)
- On Tree Bar you can see "bandwidth" Tree there, click it and it will open the configuration Window
- See below:

*Upload Rate: Set it to 40-70kbps
*Max Download Rate: (depends on plan... see below)
Quote:
756kbps - 80kbps
1.2mbps - 150kbps
2mbps - 230kbps
2.6 mbps - 350kbps
Tip: Set the download speed that what you SOD times speed is. So it will automatically optimize its connection to the fullest when SOD time is on the go.
*Global Connections: Set it to 500
*Max Peers per torrent: Set it to 300
*Max Upload Slots: Set it to 5
- On Tree Bar you can see "Advance" Tree there, click it and it will open the configuration Window
- See below:

set the value of the following:
*bt.transp_dispotition: Value to 15
*net.max_halfopen: Value to 80 (lets not use the all the half-open ports to accommodate for other programs)
Now for Final Inspection:- Check Port is correctly Forwarding
* Open Utorrent . then go to Options>>Speed Guide
* Click the "Test if port is Forwarded Correctly",,, after that you must have a conenction like this:

-- Viola Were done.
Note: Now the Final Impact of Download Speed is depends on the peer ratio on the torrent, so make sure it is healthy.
Note2: Keep utorrent running as long as Possible.
Final Product: results

Happy Leeching :D
