I have two accounts for Bayantel DSL. One at home and one on my office. At home, I use PPPoE. Plan 899. At the Office I use Static. Whenever I have encountered a high latency or RTO, I don't call the hotline immediately. I do my own troubleshooting. And This is what I wanted to share. High latency or RTO (Request Timed Out) has many causes, you cannot just pinpoint the ISP, the Network, the computer or anything. At the office, I use a very large volume of bandwidth because of the downloads and uploads and simultaneously doing it over and over. At home, well try mentioning the online games like CABAL, FLYFF, TANTRA, RAGNAROK, 9DRAGONS, City Of Heroes, Guildwars, World of Warcraft, and more other private servers... In short, I am accessing the Massive Multimedia Online Role Playing Games. Aside from that, I am downloading, from uTorrent, Youtube, Orbit and other relatively peer to peer connections. Mostly, I have experienced several connection problems, to the point of complaining for a rebate from Bayantel Center because of almost one month of limited or no connectivity. Here are some of the steps I made to check: 1. The wiring - Check the draft wire if it is not grounded or rusty especially the joints and splices. 2. Check the splitter and the rj11 pins if not rusty or wet. 3. Check the resources of your computer how much do you use. 4. Check the modem DSL Light, is it blinking or steady, or what was its current state before the disconnection? 5. Check your downloads especially peer to peer and all the shared resources. 6. Shared networks have common high latency... check who's unit is downloading or taking the most bandwidth... 7. Check Anti-virus and firewalls sometimes blocks or limit its resources. 8. Check Hardware problem of your own PC or LAN Card from Local Area Network 9. Check Virus (Trojans, Worms and backdoors) Hard to detect were trojans from network. you have to manually, connect each unit one by one to pinpoint the problem. But checking these areas, if they are present in your connection, is the vital part. The good thing, they can fix the wiring immediately or if not, we can fix immediately and the best thing is that the hotline agent will know exactly what to check on their end. If these problems were not present, then it will require a physical line check to further trace the problem. its the ISP's end to do the checking. Sometimes we always tell the ISP that its their fault, its their problem, where we have also our part. And the most source of trouble is on client side because its common. For most ISP's their problem is mostly the physical line. Port and Inter-connection with other ISP (Especially Gaming). On the inter-connection side (gaming Side), its not really the ISP's problem. But they have to coordinate with other ISP in order to support their customers better. But sometimes or oftentimes, in my experience, there are several causes that they cannot just instantly get inter-connected due to 3rd parties. And we as customers need to deal with it. I am not posting this for my benefit, but for everyone's benefit. This information that I am sharing is for customers who experience the same high latency or no connection during gaming periods or downloading periods. I hope this information helps other customers of BayanDSL.

mga ***** at wala lng alam at nag bubulag bulagan... sir, kindly please give due respect to the one starting the thread. i have noticed that this is your third time to be informed of your post being out of the thread starter's concern. may i remind you to please contribute to the development of the thread in all your post. thank you.
for guidelines please refer to the forum rules.
by the way, our post reflect on us our very character as a person. it reflects who we are as a person, specially with the words we use. pls let this be a reminder specially when we post. thank you.
inappropriate words have been edited.
as for your concern sir, for gamers, just an additional tip, if you don't know the ports you need to open, either in your router or in your firewall, that can also lead to frequent disconnects. it is not enough we reformat the PC. troubleshooting is not just checking your computer, but also knowing how the technology works, knowing your game and its requirements and doing routine maintenance. a common problem that most subscribers are not even slightly aware of.

---- I think its the Network Side. Though Bayan NOC would only say: "There's no problem in our network, Sir." But an old DSL user would know the difference. They try to convince people that its the "modem" fault, but I think its the Network's fault also.

Please be reminded that, I post this topic for the purpose of sharing some technical information at user's end. I've been a subscriber of 2 other ISP's... But this is a Bayan thread, so I only posted the bayantel, this also applies to other ISP. Why I focused on gaming and downloading... Since this two applications uses more of the bandwidth than any other. Especially if it is a peer-to-peer. I am not that good at technical part... Instead of commenting on this thread... you can also share your idea how you troubleshoot your internet connection, And please avoid off topic post coz it will just mislead the purpose of this thread. In addition to that, on the network side, most recent network problem I have found out is the LAN Card. The LAN Card works well on all other IPX/SPX connections but even when it is connected on PPPoE with no problem... the browser cannot open any website and the messenger and other application using internet connection are unavailable. But when you check the Latency, it gives 43ms to 50ms while pinging the DNS... 1st Solution was to rreplace the LAN Card... LOL but true... 2nd Solution, reinstall the correct driver of the LAN Card. Both works well but I recommend the Second option. Hehehe Thank you Sir notroublefound and Sir Mikos.
