Jcrusn wrote:@mr.moderator -- sa torrents po sobrang bagal nagrequest ako ng port reblock pero di daw pwede yun kasi pag nag speedtest ako ayos naman eh 1.2mb/s pero pag dl na ng torrent kahita madaming seeder stock na sya sa 40kb. mr.moderator wala po bang magagawang solution sa ganitong problema napapagod na ako magreklamo paulit ulit lang wala din nangyayari napalitan na modem ko pero ganun pa rin dati wala naman akong problem Port reblock is just resorted to when there is a clear indication of a problem on the line. In this case, it is just with the torrent application that you are experiencing the problem since you are getting the correct speed.
Some have provided explanations here why some have very slow downloads, while others continue to enjoy very speedy downloads in torrent. This is one problem that all are confronted with, with a few able to fix the problem. Meaning, not everyone is affected. This is where the difficulty comes in since the network shows no problems. While the rest get to experience it, the rest also fix theirs, some continue to have the same problems. And 100% of the time, there is no known problem with the speed in the line.
Application based na kasi ito eh. A change in the modem, even perhaps rewiring it and port reblock will not be a guaranteed fix. Why a fix? Because in a torrent application there is just so many things to check, some of which are already outside the boundaries of the ISP. Still I know the people at Bayan are also checking this. Although it will get a lot more complicated as there is a problem with the subterranean cables in the southeast pacific region currently.

Wow, this thread is long. Anyways, I never had problems with my torrents, and if ever you did experience slow DL speeds, you should look at the seeder/leecher ratio and even your own seeding ratio. Some trackers block or limit the speed of people who only leeches and never gives back. For people who experiences good speeds at certain times, there is a possibility that the seeder limits his/her upload speeds, there could also be times that he stops his uploads. Although, there could also be priorities issues, for example, a certain IP gives you a better upload speed than other IP, although I don't if what I said is actually true, but there is a possibility. Oh yeah, if you want to check your speed I suggest you try a direct download site, and see what is your maximum speed. If it reaches your highest download speed you've been paying for, then it isn't the ISP's problems anymore. Although high pings can also affect on far away coutries, p2p is a direct connection so it could also be a factor.
Just read forums, and learn more about the things that you fin bothering. If still it doesn't help ask for port reset over and over again. If it still doesn't work, well... You could always change ISP's, hehe.. :)
P.S. I never read the other post for it was too long, I just post what I know. If any information here has already been posted, then just consider it as a reminder. hehehe

I'm still having problem with my torrent download speed. Been trying so many configurations but i still get the same performance. Download speed speeds up during 2am-7am. Is this a possible problem with speed sharing?
I hope bayantel is still working on this matter, since it's been quite a while already.

Here's what we've been pointing out for like months already, it's 2am in the morning and this is my current speed. In this picture, it clearly shows na MINSAN, kahit hindi ganun kaganda yung seed-leech ratio, basta MAAYOS yung internet connection = MAAYOS NA DOWNLOAD SPEED.I'm thinking na maybe congestion dito sa area namin since maraming naka bayandsl dito kaya kung kailan wala nang gumagamit, tska nagiging maayos. :( Been downloading the file for 4 hours already. Sa first 3 hours niya, maximum of 40 kbps lang. Parang naka-cap lang talaga. Magiging 37, 39, 42, tapos bababa ulit to 30-something kbps. Kung sa seed : leech ratio ang sisisihin, dapat in the first few hourse MAS MATAAS yung download since yung mga leech na malapit nang matapos yung download eh pwedeng makuhaan ng speed. But in my case, it's the total opposite. Again my Reference number : 335226011

Last update I got from the Bayan Moderators is that Bayan is not throttling the downloads via torrent. Same with direct or browser downloads.pesto wrote:may update ba ito? it's a long thread medyo naka over 60% din ako nabasa sa thread na ito.

I don't think this is a problem isolated only to Bayan. I have tried other connections while I was in Cavite. And you guys are lucky you have the forum to tell Bayan what you guys want. The rest of the ISPs in the country, don't.

I was actually referring to problems/slow, erratic speeds with torrent downloads if bayantel has already fixed the problem.

Downloads from torrents can be erratic. What does your download speed and upload speed from www.speedtest.net with Quezon City as the test server tell you? If they are within normal parameters then the problem is not on the BayanDSL side.pesto wrote:I was actually referring to problems/slow, erratic speeds with torrent downloads if bayantel has already fixed the problem.

AFAIK daming factors regarding torrents not only ISP, sa experience ko ok naman bayantel, siguro other than ISP, eto mga things to consider...
Upload speed should be optimized. Nasa tutorial yan sa utorrent website. Upload speed should be parallel to download speed.
Where do you download your torrents? If piratebay yan good luck. Because it is a public torrent site. Kahit madami seeds, isang damukal naman ang leechers. So ganun din mabagal. Ako i am registered to a private torrent tracker site. Kaya optimized ang speed ko.
Sa direct downloads, i think it depends on the server side pa rin, lalo na kung sobrang congested. Kung mabagal pa rin torrents also try enabling encryption. Again nasa options yan.
In the end maswerte pa rin tayo kasi sa ibang countries kapag yan ang issue...yari ka hehehe

I know what you mean by yari ka. In other countries, they can trace if what you are downloading is bootleg software. And if you are proven guilty of it, you face imprisonment. Mahigpit ang anti piracy law nila sa US. And with the technology that they have, your PC and your internet connection is a very good source of evidence.

I do use torrent on some occasions.
One thing I noticed, prior to setting the QoS in my router, I was experiencing the problems you guys are having with torrent. After I did program the QoS in my router, I never had issues when I use torrent.
Sometimes it is just in the settings.
