Talaga? Baka naman me dahilan bakit nagagalit ang MODs minsan that some of us simply refuse to look at... We have to remember, we are in a Forum. We have rules to follow, and they have to be enforced.

Forumers can post their complains. We have been very lenient about this. If it reaches a point where it is not fit for the public or it becomes demeaning or derogatory, albeit malicious in intent, then we step in. People will have to understand that moderating comes with responsibilities. It is not by whim that we moderate topics nor is it arbitrary when we call the attention of people. There is always a better way of saying things and letting people know how we feel.

I am from QC... And I don't have issues with the torrent application. My neighbors don't either. I also have a former officemate and who is a forumer (although he is inactive here), who lives at the back of SM North. On Plan 899, he doesn't have problems with torrent either.

Again, before I get misconstrued (as a lot are fond of doing that), this doesn't mean there is no problem. I am simply stating an observation from where I am located and what I gather from other users that I personally interact with.

It is nice to know that you don't have any problems within your area and your colleague's area. But with all due respect sir, is this issue being brought to the respective Bayan mods, officers, techs or to whom it may concern? It's been a while already since we posted our problems and until now there is no updates or solutions to this issue.

Again, we just want this problem fixed and bring back the good performance of the torrent speed. Since most of us have been a Bayan subscriber for a very long time, we are just asking to please help us with this issue.

Thanks.

gusto ko sana replying ang post ni micos sa comment nya.. wag na lang.. hahaba lang ang prosisyon.... dapat they go to the issue na lang ng subsriber..

hay... wala rin palang silbi itong forum kung walang taga NOC ng Bayantel or way na ma coordinate itong issue...

pero like the rest.. simula ng October-November ... hindi na nakukuha ang speed ng torrent ... despite you have a good seeders, despite before the October you can get the high speed in torrent.. despite that my same torrent with same seeders can reach 100KB/sec during 4am onwards to 8am... up until now yung 3GB na torrent di pa rin matapos tapos.. dahil 10KB/sec ... eh kung mag 4am naman ako 4hours lang ang 100KB/sec

hayyy... kung 100KB/sec ako the whole day... cgurado.. tapus na ang torrent.. ko

by the way, the poll is now on 30 subscriber who has issue

The most that can be done here are follow ups. I am sorry if you have different expectations. As I have explained previously, this Forum basically is a feedback mechanism and a community of Bayan Subscribers, a venue for us to interact. As stated in the rules (which was very clear about the Forum's role), the technical support arm of BayanDSL still remains to be the technical support hotline. The Forum whenever necessary and it is within its capacity, do follow up issues with the technical support hotline. But other than that, this is not an online technical support and neither is it a replacement for an online technical support.

As much as I am very lenient, but I definitely cannot tolerate this post. This is already very unbecoming and uncalled for.

As per the rules:

* The moderators shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards.

May I politely remind you that in case you do not agree with the point raised by MOD Khupalkah, you could have stated this in a better way, or called the attention of other moderators. Like what I stated before, there are better ways to say things. With all your due respects, Khupalkah is a moderator also of the Forum.

Since you raised several points, I will deal with it one by one.

MOD Khupalkah was simply making a comparison between the experience of some people with Sky Broadband, and BayanDSL with regards to Torrent. Many of you have done that with other ISPs and yet, we did not site that as an off topic content even when some of you compared their experiences with other ISPs just to show to all and sundry that Bayan is the one having a problem. This is no different from what MOD Khupalkah has done. And thus, his post comparing Sky Broadband and BayanDSL is not considered as an off topic remark. Khupalkah is a moderator of the Forum and is completely aware of the Forum rules. Some even mentioned the names of the competitors of BayanDSL, something that we do not allow as it may or may not have legal bearings. But for purposes of discussions, we have allowed it. In this case, MOD Khupalkah's post is within the topic.

madcat wrote:

With all your due respects again, this is remark is already becoming personal in nature. In logic, we call this an ad hominem, an attack against the person. Discussions are allowed. But please, no personal attacks. Just an FYI, MOD Khupalkah is an IT graduate. Again Sir, you don't know the person, and neither have you met him personally, I have. As for knowing the difference between DSL and broadband, I will answer that and explain to you why he knows what he is posting.

madcat wrote:

From the Rules:

* Make sure to include your Account number for any DSL related problems.

Politely, if I was really strict with the rules, I could have cited almost everyone for violating this rule in this thread. And yet I have been lenient. But it seems none was really aware of this, albeit, perhaps not even reading the Rules. It has to reminded over and over again. Something that should not even be done since we are all adults here, and should know the rules of the community that we engage ourselves in or participate in. Looking through the thread, very few posted their account numbers, and mostly, it was done after requesting that the account number should be posted. Being Forumers, it is our obligation to know the rules.

It doesn't mean that if I don't call the attention of people regarding the rules, I am not able to see what is being violated. When moderators keep on reminding people to post something that can be read from the rules to the point that it becomes routinary, it can be very frustrating considering this is not the only concern we have. The rules are in place to make things run smoothly, not be to be ignored nor violated over and over. Our maturity as individuals is what is best seen by this simple act of following the rules.

To answer you question, yes. It helps since the Bayan Moderators can check if the account as Bayan Moderators do have access to the database of BayanDSL technical support and can check the account. That is the reason why we request for the account number. Any more comments?

Now to answer your point about broadband and DSL.

From a corporate perspective, Sky Broadband is different from Bayan. They are two separate companies. Unless you are saying na iba ang broadband sa DSL?

Again I will answer that.

"Broadband refers to an internet connection above a certain speed, regardless of the technology used."

The different types of broadband technology are the following: DSL, Cable, Satellite, and Mobile. Dial up is narrowband internet. DSL, and other technologies that has wider bandwidth in terms of transmitting/receiving data is generally referred to as broadband. Basically, there is no difference when you say broadband and DSL as the two are commonly used interchangeably.

For further reading, the following might help: Are DSL and Broadband the Same Thing?

Now if you say, Sky Broadband is different from BayanDSL, if you are referring to technology used to deploy broadband internet and in reference to the their being corporations, then they are different. Sky Broadband uses Cable, and BayanDSL uses POTS. But to say that Broadband is different from DSL, they are the same as again the two are used interchangeably. So sir, please be careful with your remarks next time. We do know what we are posting, in the same way that we are honest enough to admit if we really don't know the technology being referred to.

The remark you posted in reference to the post of MOD Khupalkah regarding skybroadband and DSL can be considered as an off topic remark at the very onset. I am calling your attention to that. However, I have to address it as you belittled what the moderator knows, almost to the point of an ad hominem argumentation. Something that is also uncalled for. Remember, clarifications can be done. If you doubt the knowledge of one person/forumer, there is always a better way to clarify it. Please be more careful next time and avoid attacks on the person (otherwise known as an ad hominem remarks).

* The Technical Support hotline (411 2000 from any landline or 181 from any Bayan Phone) is the primary technical support of BayanDSL.

The rules are clear about this. The Forum is not a substitute for an online technical support. The most that we can do here is to follow up the concerns you have from the technical support hotline. All issues we see here, we follow them up from the technical support hotline. In the end, you will still go back to the technical support hotline of BayanDSL, even if you post it here in the Forum as we do forward those posts to the technical support hotline of BayanDSL via our Forumers who are employees of BayanDSL and thru the Bayan Moderators.
