I thought the problem was solved, but it was aggravated and compounded (things got worse, latency wise...much worse) right after holy week. What would account for the difference? Or is it also coincidental to something happening in the APCN2 lines? Possible, but the time window of lag free days during holy week has me thinking unlikely. /golfclap to bayandsl. sheesh, can't even do dailies anymore. so essentially as of now (or until the problem's fixed, if and when will that ever take place, i won't even try to speculate) you have to stay up late, at around midnight to 1am just so latency would go down to around 500-700ms and be able to play and do heroics, dailies, or lvl up your toons. when you go on raids the latency goes up to 1k instantly upon entering the instance, and that's at around 2am already.
last weekend it was just terrible. latency was 1k the whole day, even in the evening. so what'll happen now? the people at the tech support line doesn't have nay idea at all re what's happening, and even if we get angry at them it'll do no good as they don't know what else to do but to restart the modem and reassure us that the technicians will do something about the problem. so what happens now? nakakainis lang pag maglalaro ka nang puro lag at parang may 2-3 second delay sa bawat galaw mo. o sikat na ngayon ang maglaro nang slow-motion.

not only wow is lagging, try downloading from file sharing sites and streaming video sites such as megavideo and ninjavideo. all were fine during the holy week but are crappy now. and why does the ping improve during the wee hours of 1am onwards...perhaps people are asleep = no line congestion. i mean come on think about it.... i hope i am definitely wrong about this and it just so happens that the cables are damaged again EXACTLY AFTER holy week. wew such coincidence.......

it's clear that people are in a tight bind because of the lag and connectivity issue. for users like me, i'm stuck with this connection until july, by which time i can switch to another company that can (hopefully) provide me with better speed and connection. on the other hand, people complaining about the latency issues with wow (and slow connection speeds for video-streaming, downloads, etc.) can't really complain about anything because, as the people at the tech support hotline will tell us, the connection's stable and there's really nothing wrong with it. in short, their only concern seems to be in providing us with any kind of connection at all, regardless of its speed or usefulness to us.
just my 2 cent's worth of opinion regarding the whole issue. nakakainis lang na gusto mo mag-wow pero hindi kaya dahil useless yung connection speed at ang taas nung latency.

It figures, we might still be on the routes I posted before. Remember I posted before that our connections will be routed via Malaysia - Thailand or Indonesia - Australia due to the problems with the cables? That would explain why Australia is involved here. Nice post internetboss. Pretty good visual illustration where our connection goes thru.InternetBoss wrote:jruz wrote:LeV wrote:shemai wrote:/sigh the lag is definitely back :( - but it is peculiar that during holy week, the lag was gone temporarily. can't help but speculate about congested lines..... it could be possible na dahil walang offices sa holy week ~ at maraming nag out of town :P Was it that many? Thanks. If we were re-routed via Malaysia, Thailand or Indonesia - Australia, wasn't that due to the repairs being made in the old route? I heard about that new Unity Cable system and that its supposedly fully functional and all the other bells and whistles. Do Bayan routes connect through that? If so, don't you think it's time maybe we were re-routed once more, preferably a much shorter route to the US?) (I think Philippines - Honkong - Taiwan - Japan - Unity Cable - US?)
Well, I realize you're a forum mod, and not the technical guy in charge of such decisions >.> But perhaps you could ask on our behalf? Baka kasi mamaya tapos na pala repairs, etc tapos nakalimutan ibalik ang dating route. >_> Just sayin'.
UPDATE
On further thought, my latencies been somewhat 700-1000ms on average. Looking at that map and seeing redundancies in distance (not counting the US redundancies), I hypothesize the current route we are all on takes twice the time to travel to WoW servers, hence the lag. If 700/2 and 1000/2 respectively, I'm looking at 350ms - 500ms. That is where we used to be.

I will try to check on them regarding this one. I have been busy lately with a few things hence my presence in the Forum being erratic. Anyhow, I will provide a feedback as soon as I get word about that. Thanks for posting the observation.
As for me being just a Forum Mod, you are right on that. My function is just limited to the Forum itself. But with regards to many things regarding the connection, it is still Bayan that does everything. I will try, however, to suggest it to the Bayan Moderators and see what they will come up with.InternetBoss wrote:Thanks. I also noticed the improvement in terms of the downloads. I did have improved latencies also for the past few days. Since I do not use the proxy, any fluctuation can easily be observed on my end. I guess Bayan is doing some things on their end. Let us just hope and pray.

one thing i noticed is that our latencies vary depending on the server we our connected with. in loltron's case, he was connected to 121.97.74.170.bti.net.ph [121.97.74.170]. i had the same with jruz's tracert. i cant help but think that some servers suck more than others, and this is unfair because we are all paying customers and we need to be treated equally.
is it possible to be rerouted to loltron's bayantel server?

been suffering from frequent disconnections since friday, lagi na lang dc every 10-20mins or so. kahit sa web browsing ganun din. worse, pag stable connection naman high latency naman. tried playing at 4am, saturday, nibigla ako na 1k ms ang best latency, surprising unless marami rin naglalaro nang wow at that time hehe.
anyways, umaangal lang ako. called tech support pero restart lang ginawa and nagpadala nang technician dito para tignan yung line at palitan yung modem. same thing pa rin, frequent dc and high latency.
