FYI, PLDT controls the WoW in the Philippines. This is expected. So really there is nothing new here. Latencies are comparable to Bayan's. I just don't understand why the drops in packets occur.

Wow...

I do not know if you were really thinking when you posted this as this is really a very illogical response to what I posted.

Let me show you:

I quoted your tracert to WoW via a PLDT line. And posted the following:

"FYI, PLDT controls the WoW in the Philippines. This is expected. So really there is nothing new here. Latencies are comparable to Bayan's. I just don't understand why the drops in packets occur."

Let us analyze my post:

1) Since I am quoting your tracert to WoW via a PLDT line it means it applies only to your tracert.
2) It only makes a general statement of WoW in the Philippines.
3) It does provide an idea that there is a problem with WoW in terms of BayanDSL connection (which admittedly is very difficult to troubleshoot since the situation is more complicated than what most people understand it to be. I have made this clear in other threads concerning online games).
4) It does state that the latencies of PLDT are comparable to that of Bayan (still based on what you posted).

Now I ask:

Where in my post did I say that there is no problem with international online games Where in my post did I state that it is ONLY WOW that has a problem? Please before you reply to one of my post, make sure you read it carefully.

I do not like to be logically technical but your post is really illogical.

Christer wrote:

You are making the fallacy of extension here.

Why? I posted and quoted something only meant for WoW and you extend it to something not even mentioned in the post. I have already explained why it is just for WoW.

You are also making a hasty generalization here.

Why?

I play other online games via my nephew's Windows XP wireless PC connected to a router via my BayanDSL connection. These games have their servers in Canada (Priston Tale) and the US (Ace Online).

You stated "LAHAT PO NG INTERNATIONAL ONLINE GAMES", therefore stating that all online games have a problem. If that is the case, how come I can play my online games?

If you are aware of Karl Popper's Falsification Theory then perhaps you will understand that a single instance falsifying your claim will ruin a general statement.

Christer wrote:

Again, another fallacy of extension here. Did I say in my post that PLDT handles other international IPs of other international games? You are extending the scope of my post when in fact it only refers to the one I am quoting.

Sir, I am not your average moderator here. I do read, check and validate posts in the Forum, fact wise and logically speaking. I am also very careful of what I post. Thus, do not assume anything in my post specially if I am quoting something as that will necessarily backfire.

My point here is not to argue. My point is we have to be careful with our post as they will unnecessarily clutter the the thread. If we are all aiming towards resolution, then perhaps it is about time we be logical with our posts. Our post must be relevant to the thread at hand.

Sir, WoW lang applicable yung post ko. Why are you EXTENDING it to other online games when I DID NOT make any claims or statements on other online games. Please read carefully because your posts are starting to digrest already and turning out to be off topic. WoW thread ito. Why involve other Online Games?

If I have an explanation already about other online games, then I would freely give it to everyone. I will even post it here.

Sir, this is a WOW THREAD. If you will extend this to other Online Games, then your post is already considered an off topic post since the issue here is with WoW. The title of the thread is: Unusual HIGH World of Warcraft Latency.

This is a WoW thread and post concerning other online games will be considered off topic. Maraming Salamat.

Mikos,

I did not know that PLDT has control (or monopoly) with regards to WoW. May I ask how you know about this, or where this particular source of information came from?

Thanks in advance.

I got the info from friends who are long time players of WoW. This is also known among WoW players that their connection is optimised in playing the game. Admittedly when it comes to online games, PLDT has a bigger market share since they have optimized their lines for such purposes. This is a part of their marketing strategy, to get the market for online game players which is also growing in number.

It is not really monopoly per se like as in managing the Game here or marketing it here. Rather it is in the facilities that the connection goes through when you play the game. This is the reason why I said the problem is more complicated than what most people expect it to be. And take note, walang legal breaches dito since those involved are merely doing what they think is best for their subscribers. PLDT has a lot of subscribers who does play WoW.

Different ISPs have different specialties. Nagkataon the competitor is gunning for a bigger online games market share. Kaya nga binili nila ang Level Up Games and other online games stakes.

Mikos, thank you for that information. It has given me much to think and go over. Hopefully the problem can be resolved one way or another.
But I just wonder, if that's the case, how come there was no problem for online games for quite awhile (until 2 weeks ago)?

Sometimes, I am the one who brings the stuff from BayanDSL. We moderators also do talk to one another despite the distances in our locations. My last interaction with BayanDSL (thru our moderators working for Bayan Tech Support), they are looking into the problem already. There is difficulty in pinpointing where the problem is as it involves other networks. They already have looked into the side of Bayan and the network is doing fine. This is evidenced by the fact that other online games are playable. It so happens also that there are online games that started having problems lately in the past two weeks. When there are other parties involved in the equation it is really difficult to troubleshoot.

loltron, nagrereply naman sila... Nagkataon, di lang napapansin since di sila ganun ka active dito sa Forum. They also do have their job at Bayan's office. Right now kasi si Mod Khupalkah at ako yung medyo aktibo sa Forum.

I am also praying for that. I mean who would not want it. Pretty soon my nephew will be asking to play WoW also. I am not currently allowing him considering his age.

Technology does have its problems. What seemingly works for a long period, sometimes breaks down and pinpointing where the problem is can be a daunting task. But I know it can be done. Nagkataon lang ngayon na madaming parties involved since this could be inter network related.

Rolling restart mamaya... usually I'd be happy to hear about this but with the latency issue we're having I was kinda hoping they'd be doing a regular maintenance para hindi masyadong masakit sa loob na hindi ako makapaglaro ng maayos ng WoW. (at para marami ding players ang di makapaglaro *grin*)

Talk about bad timing, this is already the 2nd rolling restart during the span when we're having problems with the connection *sigh*
