Personally, it's not the fact that a problem occurred that irks me, problems occur in networks all the time and we can hardly blame our ISP's for them all. What irritates me, and I'm guessing a lot of us complaining here feel this way, is the lack of feedback and response from Bayantel regarding the problem. When we reported to Bayantel's tech support, some of us got the reply that it's not within their network and they cannot do anything about it. What are your thoughts regarding that reply? Is that acceptable? And some of us, and I belong to this group, have had no concrete reply in days. The moderator says that we should be patient since something is being done to correct the problem, and I agree that we should not lose our heads over this. The difference is that while the moderator is AWARE that something is being done, most of us who complained to Bayantel personally received the aforementioned replies, with unacceptable excuses and no assurance that anything is being done to fix the problem. In fact, a lot of us weren't even aware that Bayantel is attempting to correct the problem since they did not tell us that when we complained, and the moderator's claims here are in direct contradiction to the tech support's claims that the problem cannot be fixed. Communication is the key, if only Bayantel had been straightforward and coordinated with its subscribers about the problem then I assure you that a lot of the heated words here could have been avoided.
A lot of frustration could have been avoided by a simple "Yes, we are aware that there is a problem and we are looking for a way to fix it." rather than just saying that it's not within Bayantel's jurisdiction and therefore cannot be solved. The only reason I'm not walking into Bayantel's office demanding a refund of my subscription and connection fee is the fact that the moderator here claims that something IS being done, and I had to hear it from him first.
Edit: And contrary to some claims here that PLDT is better at online gaming, I was a PLDT subscriber for 2 years until the start of this year when I shifted to Bayantel due to recommendations from friends that use it to play World of Warcraft. I was pleased to confirm that, at least for World of Warcraft, I had a more stable connection with Bayantel and did not experience the frequent disconnections associated with PLDT. (hence, in WoW, we call it PLDC.) I was much happier with my Bayantel connection than I was with my previous ISP until this problem arose, so from a WoW player's POV I do not agree that PLDC is more optimized for all types of online games.

Well said, that is why i posted earlier that i can't support the PLDC(if thats what you want to call it, haha) argument because Bayan was better on WoW

yeah me too, thats why i subscrbed to bayan because PLDC(and yes we call it PLDC) sucked, and sucked bad. as with Devatar, the one thing keeping me from walking into bayan offices is our moderator claims something is being done about it. and yes, it would have been fine with me if bayan had been straight with us about the problem and was doing something about it. at least it would have given us peace of mind and measures could have been taken. hope they identify the problem soon because the lag is getting worse and worse, not just with WOW if tt a lot of OL games. even yahoo lags already. i hope that if they id the problem they would tell us about it.

The Forum is a totally different entity from the technical support hotline. What most moderators know come from our fellow Forumers and moderators working for Bayan. Technical support may give a different answer from those given by moderators here (external or Bayan). Many though at the hotline may not even be aware of the Forum. This is perfectly understandable since the Forum is a community of subscribers (not as an online technical support as many think it is). With my interactions with the Bayan Moderators, they did tell me there is difficulty in pin pointing where the problem is. I take their word for it since it is thru them that I do many of the follow ups in the Forum. They in turn follow this up internally since they themselves are working for BayanDSL.
Other than that, this is like any other technical forum found on the web. This is controlled by your moderators with the help of a few employees (moderators who happens to be subscribers also of the service).
The Forum is NOT an Online Technical Support. For your DSL/Phone concerns please call the hot lines FIRST before posting it in the Forum. This includes requests for port resets, DSL connection footprints (ATT and SNRs), requests for technicians and repairs. Please read the Bayan Forum Rules. Bayan Forum Rules

OMG! OMG! they heard us.
I was browsing the net, suddenly i can't browse any website so i randomly tracert a few sites. It resulted to a lot of RTO outside bayans network. But then, after 10-15mins, i tried to tracert WoW servers and a few sites again, and Oh my gulay, I COULD SEE MY USUAL LATENCY. (soz caps, lol)
Patience is a virtue sabi nga ni Miko. Anyway, I hope tuloy-tuloy na to and not temporary. =) Will try to observe it until tomorrow and post updates here.

I noticed the same thing too last night. Around midnight, I was reading through some forums when my browser timed out. Feeling annoyed I decided to check if the internet had disconnected again. After reconnecting, the same thing happened, so I did the usual ping tests and tracert tests. The tracert ip numbers were different and the ms was averaging 250 ms. (less 100 than my usual 350 ms since the problem began)
Am at work now, so I will know for sure when I get home tonight. Too tired to log in wow to check at the time. Here's to being hopeful /cheer.
@ Shemai: Philippine server would be great. But I don't think that will happen....ever, though there are many pinoys who play WoW, that number is too small for them to justify that :p in comparison to the millions in Europe and America (and China). The next best thing closer to reality would be a REAL oceanic server. (not just in title but hosted in our region and not hosted at Los Angeles).

Update:
Currently there is repair work being done by an international network that maintains the facility where our connections go thru in accessing sites outside the Philippines. The repair work will take 15-20 days depending on weather conditions prevailing in the area where the repair work is being done. All ISPs using the said facility has been advised of this already. Some connections using the facility are re-routed to other facilities or networks in the area (Hongkong - Japan route) during the duration of the repair thus, some internet users will continue to experience lags in their net access. Other internet users (whose connections were not routed) will get an improvement in their connections but may be affected on occasions due to the repairs being done. Please note that there is no public advisory on this as the repair work does not impact internet users in general. Other than the latencies connected with some applications, internet access is still widely possible and no interruption is indicated.
Said problem in the facility was traced to a segment in the undersea cable where all our connections go thru.

at last some news, thanks we needed that. even if ain't good news, its nice to know what hell is going on. and yes pag dating sa bahay, back to the usual 1k ping.
@InternetBoss: but i hope Blizzard appraises the situation here at the Philippines. with the proper advertising, they could win over A LOT of people. there are a lot of online gamers here in the philippines and unknowingly, they spend A LOT of cash playing these games. some even spend 5k/month buying virtual stuff/property etc. Or Blizz can setup a server in SG, for asians and aussies (those not playing in korea/china). anyways, just wishful thinking xD

ok i found a temporary remedy to our situation. i signed up for wowtunnels and used their client but do not use WEST servers, use the singapore server. i get 200-300ms but i get dc's every 40mins. i dont know how to pay for wowtunnels because apparently it is a prepaid service. hope this helps :)

@Shemai: Willing to bet there are less than a thousand players in the Philippines alone. They don't look at those numbers anymore. We would have to be clumped together with Singaporeans, Malaysians, Indonesians, Australia, and New Zealand.
I noticed some improvement in my latency today. Still its a bit high compared to before. But I'm not complaining. I'll take 500ms over 2-3k ms any day. Haven't tested raids though. So glad the mess has been identified and is being dealt with. Just in time for the summer.
