STEAM SERVERS HIGH-LATENCY..

Setup: PC to Accesspoint(D-link) to Modem gateway.
Advice: Out of their hands.

For this past 2 weeks, I've begun experiencing high latency in steam servers, mainly singapore servers. One example is, 202.156.3.176, PL4ever singapore Team Fortress 2 Server. Normally, I would get at least 70-120ms, but now I would get 400ms-500ms, and at 2am below until 9am i would get 250ms, which is still sucks. In regards, to my download speed, I get max DL speeds from megauploads, and torrents. IRC downloads, only becomes better when my ping from 202.156.3.176 becomes 250ms.
Well, the real concern here is, that my friend gets 60ms on 202.156.3.176 servers and he is on plan 786kbps. He gets better ping times than me, even though my plan is much more expensive? The only difference is that his IP is 110.x.x.x, while my IP is 121.x.x.x. I really don't believe that it is the outside server's fault since some subscribers are getting good ping times.
One more thing I called customer service and ask them to ping 202.156.3.176 and they got 60ms. As of this moment, they are not replying to my concerns now regarding that issue.

I don't to post any speedtest.net about quezon city, since I have said that my download speeds are fine, the problems are my ping times.

Oh yeah, it's still 7am, that's why its 250ms... But still 250ms, is like a 2 second/3 second delay in a fps game.

One more thing, I notice that all of my speedtest in asian countries have worsen, in japan I used to get 110ms, now I get 250 ms. Singapore is the worst of them all, at times I would get 800ms.

Based on the tracerts made by the TS, the latency is outside Bayan's network.

Bayan cannot repair something that it is not within its control. It has to be within. Possible with re-routing. But unless this stems from within the network, a mere re-route of one's connection does not guarantee any results.

normal na tumaas ng 300 to 400ms yan latency mo since ang layo na nararating ng connection and madaming na siyang dinaanan na switch. sa DSL connection 1000ms pataas bago sabihin na my problem sa international link...

FYI. Some of your remarks in other threads are inflammatory in nature. I have even called your attention to some of them.

@Christer

Hops from 2-5 are all within Bayan's network. I will not count 1 because either you have a forced IP address, a modem in router mode (to make it auto connect, in which case it has been tampered with) or you have a router.

INTRA network hops are faster and thus are lower since the switches they go thru and the TTL is lower also. However, once that goes out of the network, other traffic going to that specific node or routing point comes into play also. Thus, it goes up. I will not comment as to why another ISP has less when it comes online games. Known na talaga na they are already trying to monopolize the gaming market. They do in a way filter out non-subscribers if you try to play on one of the servers hosted within their network. Not to mention the fact that they also own some of the facilities at which many gamers connection, regardless of ISP will pass thru. They can filter which ones are given priority also. However, I will not likely say they name here as there are legal bearings on that. Again I am in no position to validate this but I have heard of this kinds of talk even before problems started appearing in the Forum.

As to your recent post, yes, madami kayong nakakaranas. Still you cannot remove the possibility na madaming factor ang involved pa din. The PC or the PS3 is just one area, so is Bayan's network, and what happens to your data when it leaves the network. The most that I can say, coming from another subscriber's perspective, and from a technical point of view, Bayan can only control what is within it's network. It can try to resolve the problem by coordinating this with other companies that your connection passes thru, however, that is a moon shot, and will take some time. But that won't even guarantee results as our connections are randomly routed once it leaves the Bayan Network.

Friend's tracert

If it is really outside of bayantel's control, then why does my friend's tracert is way better than mine. ( tracert @pic ).
And as I said, bayantel customer service gets 60ms everytime they ping steam servers, and I, a residential line owner gets, 400ms. There's gotta be something wrong.

hmmmm seems not just world of warcraft is experiencing this problem, but the thing is: BAYANTEL HAS NOT GIVEN ANY OFFICIAL RESPONSE REGARDING THE ISSUE. 2 weeks of silence....and here we go again with the washing of the hands 'not within our network' statement. very nice. so who's responsibility is it to contact their peering partners? If only we knew how to, believe me, we would. AND WE WOULD HAVE DONE IT THE VERY FIRST DAY SOMEONE COMPLAINED.

I have a router connected but didn't do a direct PC to modem since there is nothing wrong with the results.

This is the difficulty with so many people posting so much in a thread and not bearing in mind the sake of the thread starter. This thread has gotten so long since the TS posted that it took me more than the usual time to double check everything he posted here. No programs running except of course the basic things. Off my torrents and all. Also remove my Access point and directly connected my PC to the modem.
Here are the results.

EDITED: I now have 16+ hops before I reach the server, went from being 400ms to 600ms. So basically, it got worse.

ADDED: I also noticed that the route to maxonline has changed. It seems a re-route was done, but somehow made it worse? Anyways, I hope they find the answer on why certain owners have high ping, while some don't. Oh yeah, two of the people that play HON with me, has no problems whatsoever with their latencies. They're both bayantel, @786kbps.

nandun na yung answer, simply outside Bayan's control. out of their control since they do not maintain the servers that are from 5th to the last hop. aside from that, hindi lang naman yata Bayan ang dumadaan dyan sa server na yan. this doesn't require more explanation.
