Help me please
Another problem is my laptop. Which is Dell Inspiron 600m. Nkakagamit ako ng internet using my desktop and the laptop. I think may problem siya sa network connection nya or something..

Did you reset it? I mean what steps have you taken?
Since you are able to connect to the internet without the router, nasa router yung problem. Sometimes a simple hard reset and re-configuring will help resolve the problem.Jamesz wrote:Another problem is my laptop. Which is Dell Inspiron 600m. Question: since this is a laptop, are you using a wireless connection? Or ethernet cable connected to the router yung laptop mo na hindi maka konek?
Tama si MOD Khupalkah about the SP3 thing. There are routers having problems with the that Service Pack. But before we jump into that, your desktop and other laptop, can you connect to the internet thru the router? Meaning itong Dell Inspiron 600m laptop mo lang yung me problem using the router?

Wala po ako ginawang changes. Naglalaro lang ako ng online game. Den biglang naDC. And ayun na . Ayaw na mag connect. Yes I tried refreshing the connection pero wala pa rin.
Nagagamit ko ng sabay yung desktop and laptop dati na parehong using ethernet cable connected to the router. Well.

When you connect using the modem do you use a PPPoE dialer?
If you can connect to the internet via a PPPoE dialer, you may need to do a hard reset on the router. If that does not work, you may need to do a firmware upgrade on the router itself.
As for the laptop, you need to check if the driver of the wireless adapter or ethernet card if it will work with SP3. Because if the desktop can connect, chances are the problem is with the laptop.

Yes. I use PPPoE dialer. So I guess it's the firmware upgrade is my next option. Any advices on how to upgrade it? Since This will be my first time to do it.
I guess yung laptop na yung may problem. Not sure what it is though. I think sa driver na siya. But still dko sure kung anu T_T

I guess yung laptop na yung may problem. Not sure what it is though. I think sa driver na siya. But still dko sure kung anu T_T This is how to do a hard reset generally:
Press the reset button for 30 seconds. While continuing to press down on the reset button, remove the power cable from the router and continue to hold down the reset switch for 30 seconds. While continuing to hold down the reset switch, plug in the power to the router, and continue to press the reset switch for 30 seconds. All in all, you should have been continuously pressing on the reset switch continuously for no longer than 90 seconds. Be careful though in pressing the reset switch as multiple split second pressing can destroy your router. Once you start pressing on it, continue to do so. And if you accidentally release it, let the router be stable first (usually leaving it for a minute for all the lights to stabilize) before attempting to press it again.
You may configure the router again for PPPoE following the illustration below. Please note that you will need to access the router's graphical user interface (GUI). If you need assistance on this, please let me know.
Access the router's page and set the router to PPPoE.
Enter your username and password provided by BayanDSL. Make sure to add @sod to your username for you to avail of the speed on demand (not applicable for Plan 2699 or 2.5 mbps). Set the router also to be always connected.
These are the only settings that one needs to enter.

As for updating the firmware you need to to do the following after you access the router's GUI:
Click on Tools, then click on Firmware. You may command the router to check if there is a new firmware available by clicking on the "Check Now" Button in the Firmware Information Section. Or if you have a newer firmware which you may have downloaded from the support site, you may click on browse and navigate your way to the folder where you saved the firmware file. Once you have chosen the file, you may click on OK and then click on the upload button.
Please note that the router will flash its memory and the firmware for the new one. It is very important that during this process the router and the PC is not disturbed under any circumstances. The router will be destroyed if the upgrade is not completed. The router will also indicate that the firmware has been successfully updated or flashed. Please remember to turn off your firewall and Anti Virus programs also so that they do not interfere with the firmware upgrade. Be sure to use Internet Explorer 6 and up or Firefox 2.0 and up. Using other browsers is not advisable.
Please refer to the illustration on how to navigate to the Firmware Update feature of the router:

You may check the firmware from DLink's Philippine or Asian Site: DLink Support and Downloads for DIR 600.
Please note that the support site provided is only for routers bought in Southeast Asia.
**Please note that the help supplied here are in no way intended to replace the help and support available from the router manufacturer's site. You may refer to their support site here: DLink Asia Online Support
I hope this helps.
As for the laptop:
Are you relying on the drivers inherent in Windows XP or you are using the one supplied by the manufacturer of the laptop? Me mga generic drivers kasi ang Windows XP (actually Windows in general have generic drivers). In my experience though, they don't really work well, even causing more problems than they are actually meant to prevent. Also to make sure that your laptop that the laptop is properly up to date, you may want to use the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer to make sure that the laptop is complete with updates. However, it will need an internet connection to be able to do its job. The main problem also with it is that it is pretty technical to use (it took me some time to learn how to use it since I have Windows XP also at home and it is my habit to make sure that the OS is complete with patches and updates before installing anything).
Just an advise that I hope you can learn from... Given I was in your predicament, I will try to install Windows XP SP2 first. Install the drivers from the laptop's CD (if you have it, generally you should because that is given by the dealer when you bought it). Check if it can connect to the internet. Then if it can, then I will use MBSA to download SP3 from Microsoft's Windows XP site or download it manually. You can actually download it from their website: MS SP3 Download Center. It is a 316.4 MB file. It takes me 40 minutes to 1 hour for me to download it via a 1.2 mbps connection during SOD (which means my speed will be at 1.5 mbps already since I am on a Plan 1699). It varies though from one connection to another. You may learn more about manual installation of SP3: Manual Installation of Windows XP Service Pack 3. Then check if it will still continue to have problems. If it does continue to have problems then I will rule out that it is a drivers issue or problem with the drivers. That can be tough as that means you will have to check with the manufacturer of the laptop to see if they have updated drivers.
Before I forget, your router is certified for Windows 7. As I have seen in the product website, it does have support for IPV6. What version is installed in your desktop? Just curious because your desktop can surf but your laptop can't after installing service pack 3.
Sorry for the long response. I am just really hoping you pick something worthwhile from it.

Thanks. The router is working fine now.
Now back to the laptop. I'll try to search for the cd that comes with the laptop. Binigay lang kasi sa akin yung laptop.

For example you need to check kung ano yung ethernet card mo sa laptop, kung realtek ba ito, via, etc. Same with the wireless adapter kung me wireless adapter siya (kung Intel Pro Wireless ba ito, etc). Usually sa laptop specs mo makikita yun (aka the manual).
Hindi kagaya ng Vista at 7 na more or less accurate yung hardware detection nila.
