The reason I asked you to make a topic of your own is because you already drew the focus on a survey thread to your own problem. We need not focus on you there because if we do that, others will start jumping in and do the same and that will be chaotic. So I hope naintindihan mo bakit we make directives sa Forum. I know it is not convenient, but it makes it more efficient.

A screenshot of your task manager showing all the processes running would be appreciated. By the way, I already emailed your screenshots (ping test, download, tracert and speedtest) to MOD NTF so he can evaluate them. I did not include the test you made since you cannot even answer the veracity of the validity of those tests, much less justify why they should be believed in. Note you did not answer any of my questions in the previous thread.

May I know the purpose of reposting these here, when this was already discussed in the other thread? Are we going to start another discussion regarding capping and using these tests as proof that there is capping? Because if we are going to do that, I will just re-post the questions you left unanswered in the previous thread. You did not address them there. So I really do not understand how you will address them here. The reason why I am asking is due to redundancy as we already have a thread on capping and video streaming. The problem you have is on downloads. And this was the reason why I asked you to create your own thread. Please go back to the previous thread and check how your discussion developed.

Your fellow Forumer Xaero already pointed out that capping is not the problem in your case. I do believe his justification.

I did not edit this again since alam ko magagalit ka na naman and then makakalimutan mo na naman na pwedeng gawin ito ng moderators at karapatan nila ito.

I was hoping you will pick up where we left off at the other thread. It seems we have to start all over again.

Sensha na po kung stricto ako. This forum has been efficient because of the rules we implement.

As I was saying, did you try to optimize the PC? What was the feedback of the technical support hot line? Did you ever report this to the hot line? Kasi kung hindi po, paki email sa kanila yung screenshots at customersupport@bayan.com.ph. It is not our practice to be processing screenshots here without the technical support hot line being informed first. FYI, I already emailed MOD NTF your screenshots since the site you uploaded it to is blocked in their office. Though that is not your fault.

Follow up lang naman ang pwede namin gawin dito. I have asked you this before kung naireport mo na ito sa hot line yet you seem to have ignored it. I wonder....

Noted. However, it is our prerogative if we quote things. Uso kasi ang maling akala dito so I quote what I am replying to just to be clear.

We will have to wait for the evaluation of MOD NTF of your screenshots. I cannot see your line from where I am. He can.

I gave you some pointers to look into in the previous thread, using my own rig as an example. You don't need a router to try what I have done. I am certain other forumers can offer you also suggestions like jps001 is fond of using download managers. Xentar is known to use video accelerators. Dnniwa and tokwager is known to use torrent optimizations in their rigs. You can try them if you want. We do have a thread on torrent optimization in the DIY section.

Gagawin ko lang yan if you can answer it. Why would I repost it e nasa kabila lahat ng questions? Redundancy lang yun. Hehehe... Why not just read them and organize it here as you answer them for a change. Para naman hindi sya UNANSWERED QUESTIONS (all caps for additional emphasis) di ba? After all, I have been pretty organized about the data flow here.

Hi Sir Beef, based on checking on your speedtest normal nmn po yung speed w/c is 0.97Mbps for your 1Mbps plan. Based also on your pingtest and tracert, all the latency are within Bayan's SLA (service level agreement). Have you tried to use other browser (i.e. google chrome, IE)when you are direct downloading?

Mr. beef, paki subukan nyo narin download ng any popular program from www.download.com then also take a screenshot for testing lang ulit. Based kasi dun sa test results na nai-post po ninyo ay maayos naman ang inyong connection. I also tried downloading the exact same file on one of your screenshots and eto po ang result:

We are on a 2.5Mb connection and max download speed from that website was only at 147KB/s. This doesn't necessarily mean na there is a problem with our connection or meron "capping" in between. Sa ibang type of downloads, whether direct or p2p meron mas mataas ang nakukuha naming rate ng download and meron din MAS lower pa even going under 30KB/s.

Here are a few things that you can try. Please note that I will leave the discretion whether to follow them or not to you. Most of the suggestions I have here I have tried them myself and it seems to work.

Browsers:

I do not use Internet Explorer. Of all the browsers that I have tried, this is the slowest browser of them all. Safari is the fastest, but do not bet on it in Windows. It only works well with Mac. Safari is from Apple and that is understandable. My preference for other browsers is not the official opinion of the Forum nor of BayanDSL though but rather it is a matter of preference on my part. For alternatives, you can have Google Chrome, Firefox and Opera. All of them are pretty fast in terms of loading websites and downloading. You can give them a try. Although Firefox and Opera are the ones easily customizable in terms of network tweaking. Opera 10.61 (the latest build) comes out of the box with its network settings set for speed. For Firefox, you need to tweak it. You can find the tweaking at this web article: 12 Tricks To Increase Your Firefox Speed By A Noticeable Amount. The settings or tweaks remain unchange even when you upgrade to the next release of Firefox, as long as you let the update facility of Firefox take care of it. Uninstalling and installing a newer version of Firefox will erase the settings. Since these are tweaks, be careful with what you change. I suggest you follow the ones in the said article. However, use your discretion.

Windows 7 and Vista:

These OSes are designed by default to have their RWINs dynamic and thus adjusts to the connections you have. However, the normal settings found on these OSes are usually set to 3 mbps. We all know that any mismatches, while it works on many occasions, are not really optimal. Default settings are not optimal. Default settings though work for anybody that is why they are defaults. Let us face it. Windows is designed to be idiot proof (or so we think) and thus rely on its default settings. It can be customized though so that it more or less fits our needs. You may want to give Speedguide.Net's TCP Optimizer a try. Just be careful though with the settings that you change and again, I leave this up to your discretion. Again this is a tweak meant to help your PC manage your network connection better. I have tried it and it does work. I have two computers that I have been using that on for the past 3 years or so. Just be sure to back up things that you change that way you can back track if necessary. There is no need to install this utility. It is a self run application meant to tweak some settings in Windows. You may download it here: TCP/IP Opimizer.

And finally, try using a download manager. You may want to give this a try. I have seen some Forumers like narmenia who has the same problem as yours but not having any issues when he uses a download manager. In your case, I would want to see how a download manager behaves if the other tweaks I mentioned here does not work.

Again, the advise provided here are tweaks. You may or may not follow them. These are options that you can try. Remember though that we will not be held responsible if things go wrong. Thus, use them with utmost care and discretion. You are an IT person, I am sure you understand what I mean by these things. I gave the suggestions here because I know how you feel about your situation. I have been there and I definitely understand how it feels. I hope this helps.

Your Task Manager looks fine. I have more processes (pegged at 51) since my Firewall (Comodo) and SiteAdvisor (for searches, I only do it in Firefox since this doesn't work with other browsers; and yes I am that careful when it comes to security). Yours look normal.

beef1234 wrote:

The average I get from Download.com is around 147 to 167 on non SOD. But I am on a higher Plan so that is understandable and I did tweak some of the settings in my PC as well as my router.

Please note I am not saying these things will work for you. Problems like this are case to case basis. One reason why I always appeal to your discretion is because it take a good deal of judgment also to know which one is to apply. I give these things out so you can have options to try.

I hope this helps.

Try using the proxy of BayanDSL. Although this is not a solution. It is just a fix.

Proxy Server: proxy.skyinet.net
Port: 3128

Off Topic (nothing to do with your problem):

I know that W7U x64 can work on a 3G Sticks. You are one of the very few I have learned to use a 64 bit OS with less than 4Gs of Mem Sticks.

If you sent the same tracert and ping test, the feedback of MOD NTF is just as good as their reply since he has direct coordination with the technical support hot line of BayanDSL and has access to these things.

You downloaded from the same site only. How about other sites? Is it still the same?

Errr... I do not understand your purpose of the flow chart.

Sorry if I will make this comment pero you posted it so therefore it is open to scrutiny.

I don't follow bakit ganiyan yung flow chart mo. To be honest, ang gulo and does not fit what I have learned about flow charts, both as someone who is very familiar with process flow charting, and coming from the perspective of a logician.

PS.. I have shown this to a friend who is a supervisor in a technical support center who uses a lot of flow charts. Pero dude... Ang gulo ng flow chart mo.

Now, enough of the flow chart because it seems to have violated almost every concept I know about logic and flow charting.

Your ping test and tracerts indicate that the line is normal. Unless you are basing everything on the test on capping again, thus, coming up with an explanation for your problem. On the other hand though, there are lot of questions left out with regards to the test you posted here. Thus, not another debate.

If the ping tests, speedtest and tracert all indicate that the line is functioning normally, then perhaps the logical place to look at now will be the computer. Look at this perspective also, we have nearly the same results for the Ping Test, Tracert and Speedtest, except that mine has a higher speed ratio considering that I am on a PLan that is higher. I am able to download faster. What is the difference between mine and yours? The PC and my Plan. My set up is very different from yous. I am not saying your computer has a problem. I am merely looking at what is common with your situation and mine and then making a comparative analysis based on what can be assessed from my end and what the able moderator NTF has provided so far as he had seen on your line. We have similarities and differences. The differences lie in the fact that we have different plans and different PCs, different download behaviors, nearly same tracert and ping test (thus, indicating more or less how the connection performs). Given this kind of situation, I cannot help but think, something is in your machine that causes the problem. That is a possibility that cannot be ruled out. Of course there is also the possibility that Bayan has a problem. That too is not ruled out. I just cannot help but notice what is common between yours and mine.

When did you start having this problem?

I do not know why they have not responded yet. Pero if I were to assess things properly, I will rely on the response of Mod NoTroubleFound. I emailed him your screenshots remember, with your account number. Kung ano ang response nya sa iyo, malamang ganun din ang response ng technical support sa iyo. Just take his response as the one coming from technical support since siya yung nag follow up niyan.

Try mo kaya i-disable lahat ng start up items mo, including sa services, except yung microsoft based services. Then try to check again by downloading. PPPoE kasi ang gamit natin and the dialer will not work in safemode. Kung me router ka like I do, I can easily test my rig by simply going into safemode with networking and testing the rig from there.

Getting worse.
still no response from tech support .

bukas ko nalang yung suggestion ni Miko

Update got email from tech support
Quote:

0.8Mbps is equivalent to 800kbps. Your subscribed bandwidth is 1Mbps.

Please be informed that SOD is not committed. It still depends on how many subscribers are connected to the internet on the same facility on your area. The more users, our chance to get a high bandwidth of SOD will be lessen.

hmmmmmmmmmm...
kapag SOD .8mbps lang, kapag normal hours 1mbps.
bakit bumababa kapag SOD?

Try mo i-disable yung start up items mo both sa start up items and sa services. Sa services section make sure na me check yung "Hide All Microsoft Services" then disable the ones you do not need also. Then try again after rebooting. This way we can check if there is something wrong with the PC itself. Sabi kasi ni NTF normal yung una mong screenshots regarding your tracerts. Although one of the tracerts na posted mo, the tracerts are beyond 600ms, which is the threshold for normal surfing. The last one though is within the normal range again.

I hope this still helps.
