Thanks Mod Khupalkah for the advisory.

pero ambagal pa din ng browsing.. so dun na tlaga sa mga nag down na international gateway.. ung problem right? Yup. 9 gateways yun. Nakakatulong yung proxy to speed things up a bit. Although just be wary kasi if we all use that, I am pretty sure by this time, flooded na yung proxy. Hehehe... Sana lang intindihin ng mga ibang subscribers na this is something that is affecting everyone. We are lucky we have something to use, unlike other ISPs, wala silang proxy.

Thank you for the info. I kinda expected this to happen when I heard about the quake in Japan.
Right now the websites that are very slow are Facebook and Twitter. YouTube is very fast <-- makes me wonder why :D

Thanks for the update. That being said, needing to go to the forums is fail.
Bayantel has both a Twitter account and a Facebook page. Both are in the position to disseminate updates effectively. Hopefully, this gets passed on to whoever is in charge.

The Forum is hosted by Bayan itself. Twitter and Facebook are social networking sites so if they have one, tama lang din na it should be posted there. In my humble opinion though, since the forum is the one hosted by Bayan, tama lang din na dito muna mapost o ma-disseminate yung info.
Thus, it is just but proper that it is posted and disseminated here.
I am not aware of the Facebook Page of BayanDSL. Care to post the link here?

First hit on Google search: http://www.facebook.com/pages/BayanTel/127871955500Also, Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/AskBayan This forum is for support. When there is a major outage, Bayantel should not wait for people to get on their support forum. The Twitter and Facebook accounts are for mass media purposes, aren't they? If a major outage affecting ALL subscribers isn't a mass media event. I don't know what is. I don't dispute that it should be posted here. My point is it should more importantly be posted on Bayantel's other media channels.

hindi po kasi kami ang admin at nag-create nun.. maybe un mga fans or other people sa FB and tweet, BTW about dun sa question ni rwnath, mabilis talaga ang youtube kasi nag-avail tayo ng proxy server ni youtube kaya ang site ng youtube is locally access hindi na siya lumalabas ng phil zone as part to lessen un traffic sa international since ang daming uma-access sa youtube site.
additional info po. 46% ng facebook account are fake lalo na sa mga celebrities and other company.

Yeah. I figured. When the fiber optics break down, the only websites you can access are the ones that are hosted locally.
I just wish you did the same with Facebook. I think it's more relevant as I believe more Filipinos access Facebook than YouTube.

Because if there is one, then it would have been posted in the official website of Bayan, which is www.bayan.com.ph. Lola Techie has an official Facebook account, however, she is the one maintaining it personally.
Hence the one you cited here, is NOT the official, and I still have to hear if ever that Bayan has one. I remember asking one of the Admins before, it would be redundant to have a Facebook page since BayanDSL already has a SUBSCRIBER FORUM that people can go to, and BAyanDSL is the only ISP that is hosting its own Forum.[quote=Neal]Also, Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/AskBayan I know there is a Twitter account. And yes, me nagaasikaso dun. Yun lang ang alam ko, sa dami ng sinasagot nila dun, natatabunan ang mga tweets regarding such updates. Twitter is nice way to convey information. But when you answer stuff there, the tweets get buried, unlike dito sa Forum. I know na-post din ata ito dun kasi there are a lot of people asking Bayan stuff there.Neal wrote:This forum is for support. Not necessarily. This is a SUBSCRIBER FORUM. As the rules stated already, the support you can get here are for follow ups only via our Bayan Moderators. That is why the composition of the Forum is 98% subscribers, and just 2% employees. Kaya dito din pinopost ang mga updates na yan. I do not see anything wrong with updates being posted here. AT least this is an official Forum maintained by the BayanDSL for its subscribers. So I do not get the fuzz you have when the Facebook site you mentioned is NOT EVEN the official Facebook page of Bayan. I would understand if it is the Official, but then again it is not.Neal wrote:When there is a major outage, Bayantel should not wait for people to get on their support forum. Point taken, but Neal, the question is does Bayan have an official Facebook page? I do not think so. You are a net teckie, it should have occurred to you that prior to believing any Facebook site for any corporation, it should be FIRST AND FOREMOST THE OFFICIAL. In Facebook before I subscribe to any corporate Facebook pages, I always check first if this is the OFFICIAL. In this case, it is not. You are referring to a site created by people that we do not even know where they come from. I hope you get the point as we do get the point you are driving at, it just so happens, we are not the ones maintaining it.
And what is wrong with going to the Forum for issues like what is happening now? Should'nt we subscribers go to the official sites maintained by the ISP to get the information we need rather than going somewhere else we are not even sure if it is a site maintained by the company? It is also logical that if one can go to the internet, why not go directly to the site maintained by the ISP? Sa US, most netizens there will go to the ISP's site, before they go anywhere else. The point here is OFFICIAL SITES. And the Forum is one of those sites. We subscribers should not just go around believing any information we see about companies on the web if it not even validated to be the company's official site. Thus, it is only moot and academic that we should go ONLY to the sites maintained and hosted by the ISP.Neal wrote:I don't dispute that it should be posted here. Taken Neal, but you should have checked FIRST, if those "other" media channels you are referring to are the OFFICIAL sites. As it turned out, the link you posted IS NOT the official site. I still have to be aware if indeed BayanDSL has an official Facebook site.
So again, if those are not the official sites, then what is the fuzz Sir?
Just my 2 cents, the thread becomes unnecessarily lengthened by a suggestion where proper checking should have been done on the one making a suggestion prior to even complaining about something that does not even exist in the first place.

I agree with Mod Khupalkah. Kaya even sa Facebook or anywhere sa web, before I even believe anything in a website, I always have to check first kung official site nga yun ng company. Otherwise, I do not really believe or even subscribe to it.
We should all be mindful about what is official and what is not rather than complaining for something that does not even exist in the first place.

Just my 2 cents, the thread becomes unnecessarily lengthened by a suggestion where proper checking should have been done on the one making a suggestion prior to even complaining about something that does not even exist in the first place. No offense but I think not a whole lot of people browse the bayan forums nor even go to the site at all. A facebook page or a twitter would be great as it is popular and seeing as it is already popular among filipinos and obviously a big company relying on a facebook page for increased spread of news isn't all that good for business. I'll suggest you make a facebook page of the people who are in the first to know in the conditions of the connections like a technician or sumthan' eventually it will catch on and spread and as obsessed as people are with facebook here in the Philippines its gonna be good free advert as well as a demonstration of bayan support branching out to help its customers would maybe affect some non-bayan customers to switch I dare say. I believe Mod Khupalkah already explained why we Bayan DSL does not have an official Facebook fan age. I believe that his reasons are also the same why other companies do not have Facebook fan pages as well. You do have a good point though about the popularity of Facebook. Incidentally, the Lopezes (who also own Bayan) have Multiply.com. I do remember having talks with the other moderators about the Forum having its official multiply site, since this is a feedback venue for its subscribers also. I am posting it here kasi ayoko nang humaba pa yung thread at me derail yung topic since this is a NETWORK ADVISORY thread, not on how to get BayanDSL advise its customers as it does have its official sites. You do have a point though, di nga lang viable for now as the product which Bayan wants to use is not offered by Facebook.
